Hydro-Optic Disinfection (HOD) changes the paradigm for industries and municipalities t= hat need effective disinfection without by-products(= DBPs) and without the risk of mercury in the water. <= span class=3DSpellE>Atlantium’s innovative HOD incorporates princip= les of fiber optics: A large quartz tube acts both as a clear water pipe and as an effective light trap/wave guide, unleashing the germicidal power of a UV so= urce that is outside the water. A homogeneous uniform distribution throughout the reactor's cross-section leaves microbes no place to hide or escape.

Atlantium plac= es the UV light source outside the water, eliminating the threat of a mercury spill into the product water. Separating the electrical mechanism from the wet chamber avoids electrical hazards, reduces potential heating of the water a= nd minimizes fouling. The separation removes the traditional intensity constra= ints on lamp power; so Atlantium’s Medium Pres= sure High Intensity Lamp doubles the usual germicidal and light intensity per centimeter. Lamp replacement is easy: a customer can even replace one lamp while the other continues to disinfect water.

Atlantium took= the guesswork out of disinfection with two different sensors one to read the lamp’s UV intensity and one to read the water's UVT. They feed a sophisticated control system that optimizes dosage and minimizes power consumption.
