STEVEN BERGER JOINS CRYSTAL IS, INC. AS CEO
Veteran technology executive to lead the company's commercialization of UV-LED devices for water and air purification

Green Island, NY  October 16, 2008 Crystal IS, Inc., the worlds leading supplier of single crystal aluminum nitride substrates, today announced that it has hired Dr. Steven Berger as President and CEO. Dr. Berger joins Crystal IS from FEI Company [Nasdaq: FEIC], where he was Chief Operating Officer and also previously served as Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Berger was a key member of FEI's executive management team that helped grow annual revenues from $150 million to over $600 million. Dr. Berger was also Technical Manager at AT&T's Bell Labs. He also taught at Cambridge University, U.K., after receiving his Ph.D from the Cavendish Laboratory. He holds a dozen U.S. patents and is widely published in the fields of electron beam lithography, microscopy and analysis.

Dr. Bergerâ's experience in bringing new product to markets will be instrumental as Crystal IS drives the commercial deployment of its proprietary UV-LED technology. Leveraging more than a decade of research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Crystal IS has developed the world's leading technology for anufacturing single crystal aluminum nitride substrates needed for high performance UV LEDs.

01 October 2008: Heraeus Noblelight launches new product and handbook at AQUATECH Amsterdam

Heraeus Noblelight introduced its innovative 800 Watt Amalgam UV lamp to the 19,000 attendees at Aquatech in Amsterdam.  In addition Heraeus unveiled its new Technical Handbook "Ultraviolet Light for Water Treatment".

 

The new technical handbook provides an overview on UV lamp technology for water treatment and touches briefly the methods of UV disinfection and oxidation. The major goal is to present a complete picture regarding UV lamp technology to both, the design specialist and engineer for water equipment as well as the practitioner in the water works.
