About IUVA

The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) is relatively new, incorporated as a non-profit association in April 1999, and dedicated to serving all professional fields with interests in ultraviolet technology.

This list of interests includes: UV disinfection for drinking water, wastewater, and water for reuse; the use of UV in the fields of curing of adhesives, polymers, and inks; biotechnology; forensic science; entertainment; sun tanning; preservation/ storage of foods, and non-destructive testing etc. Since its founding in 1999, worldwide interest in IUVA is growing rapidly.

The decision by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to include UV disinfection of surface water in the upcoming US drinking water regulations has surely given IUVA a boost, but it is not the only factor. As of late 2004, IUVA has over 600 members from over 30 countries, who are interested in all facets of UV technologies and applications. If you work or have an interest in any area of UV application, please send your comments to the IUVA International Headquarters by making an entry in the Guest Book, or contact me directly at hulseyra@bv.com.

The primary goal of IUVA is to advance the science, engineering, and applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of human life and to protect the environment. One of the ways of achieving our goal is through information transfer. IUVA.org is one of many vehicles IUVA uses to deliver this information. Please contact us and let us know how we’re doing and how we can better serve you.

Happy Trails,
Robert A. Hulsey
International President of the IUVA
