IUVA and CUVA Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Chevy Chase, MD (March 9, 2022) The new Chinese Ultraviolet Association (CUVA), a division of the China Association of Machinery Industry for Environmental Protection (CAMIE), and The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly advance the science, technology, and safe use of ultraviolet technologies.

"UV technology is developing rapidly in China--we have a lot to offer, but we also have a lot to learn," says Professor Wenjun Sun, President of the CUVA, and an Associate professor at Tsinghua University, China. "CUVA and IUVA share a common objective to promote research and innovation, and our MOU will facilitate cooperation between our organizations. As president of CUVA, I believe that this MOU will greatly advance the development of UV technology and I am excited to further bridge the ocean between us and bring our partnership to the next level."

The MOU provides a basic roadmap for the two organizations to collaborate on conferences and meetings, standards development, research, and education.The areas of collaboration will include research, knowledge generation, communication, dissemination of data and information, education and training.

The Chinese Ultraviolet Association (CUVA) was founded in December 2021 under China Association of Machinery Industry for Environmental Protection (CAMIE). CUVA is devoted to promoting research and development of innovative ultraviolet technologies, engineering implementation and standards; bringing together professionals from the academia and industry, cultivating talented individuals; and undertaking scientific knowledge transfer and UV education.

The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) was founded in 1999. IUVA is devoted to the advancement of ultraviolet technology for public health and the environment--with activities including advocacy, education, collaborations, research and public policy engagement.
